Iron Maiden was first formed in London in 1976 by Steve Harris (Bass), who later joined Tony Parsons (guitar), Doug Sampson (drums) and Paul Di'Anno (vocals).
Before obtaining a contract with record companies, they appear from stage to stage in London and earn revenue from each performance. Parsons was later replaced by Dennis Stratton, they released their debut album which took the title as their band name 'Iron Maiden' in 1980. Although completion of their album fairly quickly, but their songs like 'Running Free' to become hits in Britain at that time.
On their next album 'Killers' which was released in 1981, they present the changes in terms of musicality that tend to be more harsh than the previous albums, the album was re-visible changes in the composition of formation with the replacement of Stratton by Adrian Smith. Because the habit of consuming alcohol that can not be controlled any longer, finally Di'Anno was fired and replaced by Bruce Dickinson in 1982 as the release of The Number of The Beast.
Some songs in this album, like 'The Number of the Beast' and 'Hallowed be Thy Name' became known as one of the best rock recordings of all time. Since the success of this album, Iron Maiden began to be known by the world, in their next album 'Piece of Mind' is not a lot of changes they bring.
They underwent two major tours before recording the album 'Powerslave' in 1983, which later became hits a revered by his fans. In 1985 they released a double live album 'Live After Death' which was taken during a trip Powerslave tour.

One of the singles on this album 'Bring Your Daughter ... To The Slaughter' was awarded the Golden Raspberry Award for worst song in it despite the band became the band's number one in England.
After completing the tour in 1991, Dickinson expressed desire to quit and to promote another band he'd form the Skunkworks. Fear of The Dark became the band's last album with the vocalist Dickinson. This album became one of the album Iron Maiden is the biggest sales gain. After the promotion tour, they released 2 live albums in 1993, 'A Real Live One' and 'A Real Dead One'.
Together with Blaze Bayley, substitute Dickinson, Iron Maiden released the album 'The X Factor' in 1995. But unfortunately this album was not as successful as its predecessor albums. At the end of 1996 they released a double compilation album 'Best of The Beast'. In 1999 Dickinson and Smith re-joined the band, and they began to produce records which were then given the title of 'Brave New World'.
In 2000 they held a series of tours that are documented into a live album 'Rock in Rio', they also released the album 'Edward The Great' in 2002 followed by the album 'Dance of Death' in 2003.
Then they released a DVD DVDs History of Iron Maiden, Pt 1: The Early Days and Raising Hell 'in 2004. Their next albums namely 'Death on The Road' (2005) and 'Matter of Life and Death' (2006).
